THE SCIENCE
How red light actually works
Specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light are absorbed by your cells, where they boost energy production, calm inflammation and speed up repair. Here is the biology, the depth it reaches, and what the research actually shows.
TWO WAVELENGTHS
Red light and near-infrared do different jobs
Wavelength decides how deep light travels into the body. Our devices combine both bands so you treat skin and deep tissue at once.
Surface & skin
Absorbed in the upper layers — ideal for collagen, skin tone, wound healing and circulation.
Deep tissue
Penetrates deeper — reaching muscles, joints and nerves for recovery and pain relief.
THE MECHANISM
From photon to cellular energy in five steps
Red and near-infrared light triggers a well-documented chain reaction inside the mitochondria — the energy plants of every cell.
HOW DEEP IT GOES
Penetration by wavelength and tissue layer
Longer wavelengths reach deeper structures. The bars below show roughly how far each band travels through the layers of skin and into the tissue beneath.
Depths are approximate and vary by skin tone, dose and device. Both bands are present in every Royal Wellness panel.
WHY IT MATTERS NOW
Modern humans are light-deficient
For most of human history our cells bathed in sunlight from dawn to dusk — a full spectrum that included the red and near-infrared bands. That input shaped how our mitochondria learned to make energy.
Today we live and work behind glass and under LED lighting that strips out those wavelengths entirely. Targeted red light therapy is a way to give the body back a signal it evolved to expect.

How Royal Wellness compares
Output and safety certifications are where most consumer panels fall short. Here is how we stack up against typical devices.
COMMON QUESTIONS
The science, answered
Is red light therapy safe?
Yes. It's non-invasive, drug-free and uses no UV. Our devices are FDA-registered and ship with eye protection and a clear usage guide.
How long until I see results?
Recovery and sleep benefits are often noticed within 1–2 weeks of consistent use. Skin and collagen changes typically build over 8–12 weeks.
How often should I use it?
Most protocols are 10–20 minutes per area, 3–5 times a week. More isn't always better — consistency matters most.
Red light vs near-infrared — what's the difference?
Red (660 nm) works at the surface for skin and circulation. Near-infrared (850 nm) reaches deeper for muscles and joints. Our panels combine both.
Is this the same as a tanning bed?
No. Tanning beds use UV light, which damages skin. Red light therapy uses visible red and near-infrared — no UV, no tanning, no DNA damage.
Can I overdo it?
Red light follows a biphasic dose response — there's a sweet spot. Follow the included guide and you'll stay in the effective range.
